  HIV / AIDS:
We are implementing two TI Projects, in Bhadrak and Balasore district in collaboration and support of Orissa State AIDS Control Society. Both the districts are most vulnerable in Orissa.
 
As on December, 2011, we are working with 300 FSW and 200 MSM and 200 FSW and 150 MSM populations in both the districts. In ICTC, Bhadrak 790 cases were tested out of which 03 positive case was identified and 100 persons died due to AIDS in Bhadrak district. Similarly ICTC Balasore 410 cases tested out of which 04 positive cases were identified. Targeted Interventions (TI) are a specific set of intervention in HIV/AIDS Control programmes meant specifically to reach out to groups seen to practice high-risk behavior (HRG). HRGs are divided into Core Groups (comprising Female Sex Workers (FSW), Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) and Men having Sex with Men (MSM). The goal is to saturate coverage of high-risk groups. Apart from prevention of HIV infection, This facilitate prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases as they increase the risk of HIV infection, and are linked to care, support and treatment services for HIV infected. The main components of the TI projects are Behaviour Change Communication, Condom Promotion, STD care and support, Enabling environment, Community organizing and ownership building, Linkage with services.
 
Under T.I. project, against target of 300 FSW and 200 MSM in Bhadrak and 200 FSW and 150 MSM in Chandaneswar, Balasore, we have identified 501   FSWs and 315 MSMs in Bhadrak and 424 FSWs and 238 MSMs in Chandaneswar, Balasore. 180 FSWs have formed 16 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Bhadrak and Balasore, out of which 16 have already opened their accounts in the bank and 15 groups availed credit for income generation activities. We have supported 8 groups with seed capital money for self-employment.
 
Two community based groups of MSMs have been formed in Bhadrak (Shanti Seva – 52 members) and Dhusuri (Saraswati – 31 members). Both the CBO have already been registered under Trust Act. in Bhadrak. This is the first CBO of Maichiya and Hijra. 22 members of Shanti Seva group have been financially supported for self-employment and they have opened a flower shop. 
 
Three Drop-in Centers are currently functioning in Bhadrak, Charampa and Dhusuri for the MSM communities. The center provides them with opportunities of entertainment, education, health care and counseling.
 
A “Telephonic Help-line” for MSM, Hijra & Maichiya is running in our office since last three years. A telephone no is working especially for counseling service.
 
Besides, we have distributed 245189 and 97310 pieces condoms free of cost and social marketed 10368 and 2109 pieces of condoms in both the districts. 32 STI cases treated at govt. STI clinic Bhadrak, Number of PLHA linked with ART center 5 and 4 in both the districts, CCC 2 in Chandanaswar, Balasore. 11340 and 8707 One-to-One counseling was undertaken and 11 health camps were organized for the community people in both the districts.
